Cait Haygood was born and raised in Athens, Georgia. She graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She earned her Master of Arts in Mass Communication at the University of Georgia and her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law.
Prior to attending law school, Cait spent time under the Gold Dome of Georgia’s capitol. She began her career as special assistant to then-Secretary of State Brian Kemp, quickly working her way to Deputy Press Secretary, where she managed the public affairs and communications of the agency. As her interest in policy and law grew, she took a role with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in government affairs. As a lobbyist, she was responsible for creating legislative solutions for issues effecting one of the nation’s largest pediatric healthcare systems and advancing needed health policies for Georgia’s children. Her work included extending insurance coverage to children with Autism, adding an additional layer of access to organ donors for pediatric patients and protecting billions of dollars in funding for Children’s at both the State and Federal level.
During law school, Cait worked at Gray Pannell & Woodward LLP as a clerk and joins the firm as an associate primarily in our Atlanta and Athens offices. She practices in the areas of municipal bond law, public finance and economic development incentives.
